Oh, look what it is: My spring routine!

HI GUYS. I’ve been way busy lately and haven’t been here much to prattle about what my boyfriend calls “my potions,” but I have a fantastic new job that I’m loving very much to blame for it, and I can’t really be sad about that.

That said, I’ve had a few things in the testing queue and I thought tonight was just as good as any to take a snapshot of the some of the current products in my spring skincare routine!

I forgot to add my sunscreen in the picture too — sorry!

If you’d like to learn more about any of these products, scroll to the bottom of the post for a handy-dandy shopping list. But before you do, I’d like to chat about a few of these items in more detail and explain why I am using what things.

Currently in testing for review: The Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel, which came in a review sample from Pink Seoul, and the Mirapack mask, which has not been released in the U.S. as of yet. I’ll do a full review of the latter in a separate post as I want to dig in on that, and I haven’t quite made up my mind about the Soothing Gel yet. I know that its blasphemous to say this, but I find Benton’s product line sort of boring and it rarely has any effect on my skin. It may just be made for a different skin type, though, so I feel it’d be unfair to pass judgement.

Staples that I carried over from my winter routine: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, which my skin absolutely adores, and Goodal Waterest Vital Sleeping Pack which smells like divinity. Both are heavy items, and I expected that they would be too dense for summer. However, I’ve tried switching to a thinner oil and the results aren’t as good, so I keep going back to DHC. It also makes giving a facial massage wonderfully easy, as its viscous enough to stay on as you go and gives your fingers excellent glide. The sleeping pack I simply use less of, but the smell and the result are both so superior I simply cannot give them up!

Brand new items: The Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion, which I ordered ages ago after Fiddy from Fifty Shades of Snail reviewed it so positively. Sadly it took a month to arrive from Japan, so it’s literally entering the routine tonight. I’ll have more to say on that after I see a week’s worth of results. The other new item is the Klairs vitamin C Serum, and it’s shaping up to be a holy grail item very quickly. It’s my first vitamin C serum experience, and I was hesitant to tear away from my precious Missha Time Revolution Immortal Youth Serum. But the RESULTS. My skin looks brighter and has a lovely even tone. Now to see if it can lighten the sunspots that drive me nuts — will report back on that. The Shiseido eye cream is a sample size as well, as I’m looking for something to combat dark circles, but like most eye creams, I feel like I never see any specific results.

Revived from the pile: Aritaum’s Ginger Lip Scrub, because my lips are dry and rough all the time and I HATE MY LIFE LIKE THIS. I’m open to any and all suggestions to fix this problem.

This spring I have both AHAs and vitamin C in my routine for the first time. My first few years of kbeauty was all about mastering hydration, as I had been such a dry-skinned human that it literally floored me to find I could turn that around. After years of tinkering with products, I had a terrific glow and my skin felt soft. But hydration can’t fight aging the way active ingredients can, and I knew eventually I was going to have to introduce some new elements into the game.

While still a beginner, I am finding that I like the results from these products a LOT. I think along with the hydration products I use that they are also combating other issues and that this is the most powerful my routine has ever been. I plan to continue on this path for a while and see where it goes long term, because the benefits have been exciting so far in a short period of time.

I also learned that lighter, thinner products are not always the answer in spring, especially for dry skin. We need more hydration all the time, and it may be as simple as using thinner layers of our favorite winter products as I mentioned I do above.

And now, friends, I’m happily off to my pillow and good dreams. Tell me what your routine is like for these lovely months, and what you enjoy pampering your face with!

I’m just starting to delve into the K-beauty rabbit hole and stumbled across your blog – love it! I’m in the same boat as you with chapped lips at all times issue. Have you tried Hempz lip balm? This is the first product I’ve tried that seems like it’s actually repairing the moisture barrier in my lips… to the point where I can actually go for hours without reapplying it now, my lips don’t get painful and dry, and they’re smooth now instead of flaking and peeling all the time. It’s pricey but totally worth it for the results, and one tube has lasted me 6 months.

I struggled with dry chapped lips all my life until a year ago during winter holiday in Praque my lips got so dry they were bleeding :/

So i went to a near pharmacy and grabbed Labello lipbalm, without knowing that this brand is actually very famous in Germany.. I used it and the next morning my lips were like brand new!

They are only around 1.80 euro for 2.. You can find it in ebay but better ask somebody in germany get it for you if possible..

just found you from the FB group. re: chapped lips – at night, i apply a layer of CO Bigelow’s night chapstick, then at the end of my skincare routine, i put on a crazy thick layer of a mix i blended myself. it has yes to coconuts lip oil, laneige lip sleep pack, a little aquaphor, and cocoa butter vaseline. my lips have never been so not chapped 😀

loving your blog, keep it up!
